BBC DOCUMENTARY FEATURED PAINTING BY JANINE MARTIN Alan Yentob presented a documentary called "Imagine ...Own Art" on 1st December 2009 on BBC1 at 10.35pm. One of Janine Martin's paintings titled 'Mythology - Flying Bus" was featured on this programme, having been purchased by Alex James at The Courtyard Solo Show last Spring, using the Own Art Scheme. Alexandra James, who with husband Mark owns the Broadfield Court conference centre and café at Bodenham, borrowed £350 for the painting Mythology - Flying Bus from the Own Art scheme. She saw it during an exhibition at Hereford’s Courtyard Theatre. “As soon as I saw the painting in the exhibition atThe Courtyard, I fell in love with it,” said Mrs James. “The artist is Janine Martin and to be honest, I would have loved any one of her paintings. “The picture really caught my eye but I could not afford to pay the £350 outright.” She was told she could buy the painting as part of the Own Art scheme and pay back the sum at £35 a month, interest free. “I was absolutely thrilled and would encourage anyone to do the same if there is a piece of art that really takes their eye.” More information is available at artscouncil.org.uk/ownart. | ||||||
